HATER ALERT … Sebastian Bach: “I think these ‘American Idol’ shows F#@king suck… I’m not just putting one person down; I’m putting them all F#@king down.”
“I think these ‘American Idol’ shows f#@king suck, because America picked this f#@king idol, not some bulls#!t TV show,” he continued. “I’m not just putting one person down; I’m putting them all f#@king down.” — Sebastian Bach
Metal Sludge — Sebastian Bach is in the headlines again and it appears he’s taking a veiled shot at his former band’s new lead singer. Bach, 55, sang for Skid Row from 1987-1996 at which point the band fired him. After years of back and forth with both the various original and replacement members, Bach is no further along in letting go of their history in 2023.Bach was playing a show over the weekend at the Sideout Sport’s Tavern in Island Lake Illinois and between songs decided to address the crowd. As transcribed by Blabbermouth Bach looking a bit heavier stated the following: “Everything I say, people put words into my mouth. They say, ‘Well, Sebastian said this about this guy, said this about this guy.’ And then I never said nothing about no guy.
“I think these ‘American Idol’ shows f#@king suck, because America picked this f#@king idol, not some bullshit TV show,” he continued. “I’m not just putting one person down; I’m putting them all f#@king down. Carrie Underwood‘s pretty good. So who else is from that? I’m waiting.” When one person shouted out Kelly Clarkson‘s name, Bach said: “Kelly Clarkson? Is it that amazing? Anyways, you can sing this [song] on your ‘American Idol’ show all you want. This song was picked by America, by you people. Thank you so much for 35 years of rock and roll. This song is for you. This is called ’18 And Life’.”As the band launches into “18 & Life” Bach encourages the crowd to sing along, and at some point gestures to the audience singling out someone up front; “You could be the next singer of Skid Row.” Skid Row have stormed back in the last year with a brand new release “The Gangs All Here” that features their new front-man and lead singer Erik Grönwall.Grönwall won Swedish Idol, the American Idol spin-off version in Sweden in 2009.During his initial audition at age 19 (in 2007), Grönwall sang “18 & Life” which eventually went viral.Since the band dropped their 1st single with Grönwall and announcing him as their new singer the reaction across the board has been overwhelmingly positive, and the band have since played countless sold-out and capacity shows around the world. Bach has openly grasped at a reunion with his former band, but at every step of the way each of the classic era members have continued to deny him the opportunity to return.
